Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Who is eligible for MTA?
MTA is for participants who have a confirmed long-term home but cannot move in yet due to delays in disability supports or housing readiness, and who cannot stay in their current accommodation.
How long does MTA funding last?
MTA is typically funded for up to 90 days as a bridge between your current situation and your permanent home.
Can MTA be extended beyond 90 days?
Yes, but only with NDIS approval. You must provide evidence of ongoing delays, such as updated completion dates or housing confirmation letters.
What does MTA funding cover?
MTA covers accommodation only (the property). It does not include food, utilities, or living expenses like electricity, internet, or groceries.
Does MTA cover support workers or respite?
No. Support services are funded separately through SIL or Core supports. MTA is for transitional housing, not respite care.
Can I use MTA after hospital discharge?
Yes. MTA is commonly used when a person is medically ready to leave hospital but their long-term home is not yet available or ready.
